The 19th century is one of the least known periods in
the history of the Byelorussian literary language, a
fact due at least in part to the inadequacy of
existing information about the works of which it is
comprised. The conspectus aims to place the main
writers and texts in a general historical context, at
the same time giving factual information relating to
dates, place of origin or publication, authorship and
the use of pseudonyms, whilst the bibliography is
intended to provide a full list of those texts that
have survived to the present day, with, where
possible, their date of composition and date and place
